The Denver Nuggets really like Malik Beasley.

But it's possible that no one in the organization likes Beasley more than Nuggets head coach Mike Malone.

What does Malone like most? Beasley's defense, per Christopher Dempsey of NBA.com.

“I am putting you out there for your defense,” Malone told Beasley. “Anything you give us offensively is great, and I love it and I know you’re confident and you work hard on that, but don’t ever forget I’m playing you because of your ability to guard multiple positions.”

Malone didn't stop his praise there, per Dempsey.

“I’ve known that Malik Beasley not only has the physical talent to be a good defender, but more importantly Malik has the mental edge, the mental attitude and thought process to be a good defender,” Malone said. “And that’s what I think separates him from some other guys.”

Beasley is not averaging very many points for the Nuggets so far this season, but that is not his role this season. His job is to be a defensive stopper, and that is playing itself out so far this season.

With Malone instilling confidence in Beasley, the better he will get in a shorter amount of time. Beasley will be an important player for the Nuggets going forward, and he's proving that right now.
