Former NBA journeyman Darko Milicic explained why he thinks Denver Nuggets superstar Nikola Jokic should have just ignored Markieff Morris despite the dirty play.

Weighing in on the hot subject, former Detroit Pistons pick Darko Milicic–who is also a foreigner in the U.S. like Jokic during his playing years–the damage could've been controlled.

According to Milicic, Jokic will surely be a “target” as he's a foreigner who is dominating the league. Moreover, given that the Morris brothers have been known for selling the “dangerous guys” image, Jokic shouldn't have let his emotions win and just let it all slip away.

“It is obvious that they (the Morris brothers) are building their careers on incidents and provocations, as ‘dangerous guys.’ They survive on that basis,” Milicic assessed via Croatian newspaper Mozzart Sport. “But Nikola [Jokic] shouldn’t have allowed himself that because they achieved what they wanted by provocation. Nikola was suspended.”

“Nikola turned out naive, pushed him visibly,” he added. “I’m not a scoundrel, but I didn’t see the desire for a showdown. A small percentage of players are ready for the showdown. You turn out to be naive if you get hooked and in front of everyone. You turn out to be the culprit, regardless of the circumstances under which it happened.”

The infamous Nikola Jokic vs. Markieff Morris in-game fight saw the Nuggets big man getting a one-game suspension and the NBA handing out several fines. More drama followed suit as the brothers of the aforementioned players got involved as well.
