Life can come at us fast.

It was only a few hours ago that reports broke that Brendan Vaughn was arrested for a felony drug charge. Now the Oklahoma State talent has been dismissed by the school.

Reportedly, he was arrested Saturday on charges of possession of a controlled and dangerous substance with intent to distribute within 2,000 feet of a school and possession of drug paraphernalia.

At the time of the news breaking, an Oklahoma State football spokesman did the usual circling of the wagons. The spokesman said the program was aware of the situation but had no further comment at that time.

Having the ability of hindsight available to us, it appears as though the Cowboys knew exactly what the next course of action would be, but wanted to take care of it behind-the-scenes first before making it public.

This news comes only a day after the reports of the off-field incident surfaced. It was OSU head coach Mike Gundy that confirmed that Brendan Vaughn had been dismissed from the Cowboys football team. At the time of this writing, it’s unclear if Vaughn will remain at the university as a student or leave.

Obviously, he might not have a choice, as the school and/or law enforcement officials might make that decision for him.

A three-star member of the Cowboys’ 2017 recruiting class, Vaughn was rated as the No. 52 outside linebacker in the country.

The Cowboys are set to face the Pittsburgh Panthers this weekend. It will be Oklahoma State's second straight game on the road.
