Baltimore Orioles left-hander John Means made history in Seattle on Wednesday afternoon, throwing the first franchise no-hitter since 1991. It was a fantastic performance from the 28-year-old, also striking out 12 Mariners in the 6-0 win.

It was just the 10th no-no in Baltimore Orioles history as well and to top it off, the last one actually saw four different hurlers combine for it. Means tossed just 113 pitches on Wednesday, with 79 for strikes. He also matched his career-high in strikeouts.

Means was even close to a perfect game at one point, but a dropped third strike in the third inning allowed Sam Haggerty to reach base for Seattle. He was ultimately thrown out trying to swipe second.

The Orioles are just 14-16 on the season, but Means has been a clear bright spot. The former West Virginia standout sports a 3-0 record in six starts while also compiling a 1.70 ERA. That puts him fifth in the entire majors.

Means is the third pitcher this season to already throw a no-hitter, joining San Diego's Joe Musgrove and White Sox lefty Carlos Rodon. It's just the icing on the cake for Baltimore's ace who is putting together a tremendous campaign for the Orioles.

The team currently sits in dead last in the American League East, but a 6-4 record in their last 10 games is a positive sign.
