The Orioles make the trip to Toronto to face the Blue Jays! These two teams are very different with the Orioles being one of the best teams in the MLB, while the Blue Jays have struggled to find any sort of consistency this season. Both teams are playing well right now leading up to this AL East matchup. Our MLB odds series has our Orioles-Blue Jays prediction, odds, and pick for Tuesday.

The Orioles come into this series with a 37-20 record and they have won eight of their last 10 games. Their offense has jumped back into the top 10, while their pitching is a top-five staff. The Orioles have so much young talent behind the plate with Jordan Westburg, Gunnar Henderson, Adley Rutschman, Anthony Santander, Cedric Mullins, Colton Cowser, and Ryan Mountcastle making up the bulk of it, but there is even more too. They improved their pitching this past offseason by adding Corbin Burnes to go with Grayson Rodriguez, Cole Irvin, Kyle Bradish, and Albert Suarez. The Orioles were the best team in the AL last season and they somehow improved this season and are in a battle with the Yankees for the AL East and the top seed in the AL.

The Blue Jays have been inconsistent to start the season towards a 28-30 record. However, they have won five out of their last six games leading into this series. The team has struggled behind the plate with their bats and then their pitching has also struggled, with both being in the bottom half of the MLB in this season. They have only won one game out of their last five games. Daulton Varsho, Justin Turner, Bo Bichette, George Springer, and Vladimir Guerrero Jr. have stood out behind the plate, while Jose Berrios and Yusei Kikuchi have been their best pitchers up to this point in the season. Toronto has the talent, but they have not found any consistency up to this point in the season and it is doubtful they will be able to find any this season.

Why The Orioles Will Cover The Spread/Win

The Orioles are starting Corbin Burnes on the mound and he has a 5-2 record, a 2.35 ERA, and a 1.05 WHIP. Through 72.2 innings, he has allowed 22 runs on 56 hits with 20 walks and 71 strikeouts up to this point in the season. The Orioles are 8-4 in his 12 starts this season. In his last start, he pitched seven innings and allowed one run on three hits with three walks and five strikeouts in an Orioles win. Burnes was a great addition in the offseason for the Orioles and has been a key piece for them on the mound. He has a favorable matchup against the White Sox and their struggling offense.

The Orioles' offense has been one of the best in the MLB and has made a jump back into the top 10 of the MLB. They are ninth in team batting average at .249 after finishing last season at .259. The offense is led by Adley Rutschman and Gunnar Henderson leads the way in most of the batting categories. Adley Rutschman leads the way in batting average at .304 and in total hits at 68. Henderson leads the way in home runs at 19, in RBI at 35, and in OBP at .368. This offense will get a tough matchup supposedly against Jose Berrios if that is who they decide to start based on schedule or it could be a bullpen game for them.

Why The Blue Jays Will Cover The Spread/Win

The Blue Jays have not announced who they are starting yet, but based on schedule it could be Jose Berrios on the mound where he has a 5-4 record, a 2.78 ERA, and a 1.08 WHIP. Through 74.1 innings, he has allowed 23 runs on 62 hits with 18 walks, and 58 total strikeouts. He is 8-4 in his 12 appearances this season. In his last start, he pitched seven innings and allowed one run on six hits with zero walks and five strikeouts in a win. This will be a tough start for him if he plays because the Orioles have been great on offense. There is also a chance the Blue Jays go with their bullpen in this game as well.

The offense for the Blue Jays has struggled towards a .234 after finishing last season with a .256 batting average. Daulton Varsho and Vladimir Guerrero Jr. led the team in almost every important batting category. Guerrero Jr. leads the way in batting average at .291, in OBP at .388, and in total hits at 65. Varsho then leads the way in home runs at 10 and in RBI at 30. This offense has struggled across the board and this matchup against Corbin Burnes is a very tough game with how inconsistent they have been.

Final Orioles-Blue Jays Prediction & Pick

The Orioles have been one of the best teams in the MLB this season. Corbin Burnes has the pitching advantage if Jose Berrios or the bullpen gets the go-ahead for the Blue Jays and then the Orioles have the more reliable offense when compared to Toronto. The Orioles should win and cover in this game even on the road by a decent margin.
