The New York Excelsior announced on Twitter another offseason exodus from their ranks as notable support player Kim “Mandu” Chan-hee was released.  Though Mandu did mention via Twitter that he was looking for a new club for the upcoming Overwatch League, it was only today when the Excelsior made his departure official.

The 18-year old has been a part of the organization since November 2019 and his efforts spearheaded the team to a respectable 3rd place finish in the 2020 Overwatch League Asia Playoffs as well as a 7th place outing in the 2020 Overwatch League Regular Season. Mandu joined the Excelsior to serve as an understudy for their primary support player Jung “Anamo” Tae-sung. Mandu was renowed for his skill as a Lucio player.

His stint with the Excelsior was a landmark moment in his career as he has finally reached the Overwatch League. His previous years saw him competing in the Overwatch Contenders.

He expressed last September how disappointed he was with his performances in his first year in the OWL, but nevertheless he remained grateful with his overall experience.

Other members that have departed from the club included mainstay Kim “Mano” Dong-gyu who just recently signed with the Philadelphia Fusion. Mandu wasn't the only free agent released by the Excelsior as his other former teammates namely Lee “WhoRU” Seung-jun, Kim “BiaNcA” Dong-wook, Choi “HOTBA” Hongjun, and Jeong “Nenne” Yeonkwan were also released last month. The Excelsior are now left with four players for the upcoming season which includes their team captain Park “Saebyeolbe” Jong-ryeol.

The massive exodus of players from the club have left some fans worried about the team's future.
