Domantas Sabonis' name is back in trade conversations. This comes after rumors about a potential roster shakeup by the Indiana Pacers front office surfaced.

The Pacers have experienced a decline since they finished fourth in the Eastern Conference in 2019-20. The team ended up in ninth place last season. After 28 games in the 2021-22 campaign, the Pacers own a 12-16 record—third-worst in the East.

In spite of the team's poor record, Sabonis isn't believed to be playing his way out of Indiana, according to Scott Agnes via the Fieldhouse Files podcast.

“Sabonis is not trying to get traded either. He’s not trying to push his way out. He’s good with it here. He likes this team. He likes most of the people around it and playing for Rick Carlisle. He bought a house here over a year ago. He’s now a married man. He has a lot of frequent visitors. So I don’t think he’s looking to get out of here, doesn’t mean he wouldn’t embrace it.”

Sabonis went off to a strong start this season only to suffer from inconsistency in November. Things have begun to pick up in the final month of the year, though. He's averaging 22.2 points, 11.4 rebounds, and 5.0 assists throughout five December games. The Pacers are 3-2 over the last five contests.

It's still too early to count the Pacers out. Despite being in 13th place in the conference, they are only 1.5 games behind the 10th-seeded Boston Celtics. Meanwhile, three games separate the Pacers and the eighth-ranked Charlotte Hornets.
