The NBA Offseason is one of, if not the most drama-filled time of year for the league. Super teams, falling outs and moving stars are typical of an NBA summer. This year's drama has moved quickly, but the next epicenter of news may be on the rise: the Indiana Pacers and Myles Turner.

Per NBA insider Marc Stein, it's possible Turner begins the final year of his contract without an extension. Stein originally expressed that Indiana was “hopeful” to retain the center this offseason, but now notes that Turner could wait to negotiate an extension or enter next offseason as an unrestricted free agent.

This is obviously troubling for the Pacers. Regardless of if they view Turner as a core piece for the future, letting a valuable asset walk without bringing in some return is a deathwish in the modern NBA. Indiana could now be hard-pressed to work out a deal with Turner midseason or find a suitable trade package by the deadline.

Another layer to the situation involves young wing Tyrese Haliburton. Indiana acquired Haliburton in February via trade, but have yet to see him alongside Turner, who went down with injury in January. The Pacers must evaluate Turner's fit with Haliburton as well as his value overall.

This situation has suddenly intensified for Indiana, who seemed to be moving in the right direction. Instead of using this season to develop their core and solidify their vision, the Pacers now must address the Myles Turner-sized elephant in the room.
