Training camp is quickly approaching, which means each franchise will be making roster cuts soon. Teams are allowed a maximum 90 players on the roster at the beginning of training camp, which eventually dwindles down to 53. The Green Bay Packers have a solid roster throughout, however, some are competing for a spot on the team.

Players can get cut for virtually any reason. They're at the bottom of the depth chart, a nuisance in the locker room, or the franchise is looking to save some money. Luckily for the Packers, they don't seem to have many surprise cut candidates this year, as the front office has built a solid roster. However, there are two names on the offense who could be cut sooner, rather than later.

Additionally, there is a defensive player that could be cut from the team as well. Green Bay will likely make these decisions based on depth, as each of these players are at the bottom of the depth chart. With taht said, here are three cut candidates on Green Bay's roster bubble entering the Packers training camp.

Blake Bortles

Aaron Rodgers is still holding out, but there has been no news of trade rumors recently. Signs are pointing towards Rodgers returning, as he chose to not opt out of the 2021 season. There is still a possibility he gets traded, but Rodgers showed his cards a bit remaining active. He doesn't want to sit out and if Green Bay waits long enough, the star quarterback should come back and play the 2021 season.

For that reason, Blake Bortles is an obvious cut candidate. The Packers brought him in as insurance, but if Rodgers plays, he is no longer needed on the roster. Jordan Love serves as the immediate backup. This all depends on how the Aaron Rodgers saga unfolds, but the trajectory of the situation is that Rodgers stays in Green Bay for at least one more season.

Jace Sternberger

Jace Sternberger was already at the bottom of the depth chart after struggling in his first two years of his career. Now add onto the fact he's suspended for the first two games, the Pakcers may cut their losses and fill his roster spot with someone more deserving. He'll have a chance to make the final roster, but Sternberger's days in Green Bay are counting down.

With the emergence of Robert Tonyan and Marcedes Lewis playing the backup role, Green Bay has solid tight end core. Sternberger also doesn't help that much as a pass catcher as he's been utilized more as a pass blocker. That is his best bet to make the team, but the coaching staff could look elsewhere for that type of role.

Henry Black

Henry Black played minimal time in his rookie season. He participated in eight games where he recorded eight total tackles and one forced fumble. Not too bad for a guy with limited opportunities. However, his chances of making the final roster reduced this offseason, as the Packers have a plethora of safeties at their disposal.

Adrian Amos and Darnell Savage lock down the starting roles. From there, the Packers have five other safeties Black must compete with. His best bet is to make the special teams unit, but even so, Henry Black has a ton of competition in training camp. The odds are against him right now.
