The Green Bay Packers fell vastly short of expectations in the 2018 NFL season. However, it appears quarterback Aaron Rodgers was still the best the NFC North had to offer.

Rodgers did not have much to hang his hat on this season outside of his individual numbers. According to Pro Football Focus, he was still the highest-graded quarterback in the division:

Aaron Rodgers, Green Bay Packers – 89.7

Kirk Cousins, Minnesota Vikings – 79.3

Matthew Stafford, Detroit Lions – 77.8

Mitchell Trubisky, Chicago Bears- 63.0

The results should hardly come as any surprise. Rodgers has long held the distinction of being the best quarterback in the NFC North. The arrival of Minnesota Vikings quarterback Kirk Cousins and the emergence of Chicago Bears quarterback Mitchell Trubisky was not enough to take his spot.

Perhaps even more impressive is the fact that this was a down year by Rodgers' elite standards. He threw for 4,442 yards while completing just 62 percent of his passes. Although he only threw two interceptions all year, his 25 touchdown passes are the lowest he has registered in a season where he played at least 15 games. There is no question that he was well aware that this offense left much to be desired in the 2018 campaign.

Fortunately, Green Bay can take solace in the fact that they still have not only the best quarterback in the division, but arguably in the entire league. This will certainly go a long way for new head coach Matt LaFleur when the time comes to construct a game plan.
