The Green Bay Packers have been handed an unfortunate blow ahead of a Week 9 showdown with the Kansas City Chiefs. Superstar quarterback Aaron Rodgers has tested positive for COVID-19 and will be sidelined on Sunday. Via Tom Pelissero:

A Rodgers vs. Mahomes matchup was definitely anticipated, but instead, it appears Jordan Love will suit up for the Packers. Rodgers has been absolutely lighting it up this season ever since a Week 1 loss. Green Bay is on a seven-game winning streak and most recently dealt the Arizona Cardinals their first defeat of the campaign on Thursday Night Football.

Per Ian Rapoport, Rodgers is actually unvaccinated, which is why he tested positive:

Welp. That stands to reason, then. It's definitely a hit to the Packers offense though. Rodgers has thrown for over 1,800 yards this season and 17 touchdowns. As for Love, he's only taken seven snaps in 2021 and was being groomed to be the starter in the summer before Rodgers eventually returned to the team.

The Chiefs meanwhile are struggling, but they're coming off a win over the Giants. KC's defense allows a lot of points however and Love will be looking to capitalize. Hopefully, the Packers have Davante Adams back in the fold after he missed Thursday's game due to COVID-19 protocols. The wideout will return to practice this week.
