Much has been made this offseason on how the Green Bay Packers have failed to give Aaron Rodgers much-needed aid at the wide receiver position. While the Packers hope to find an answer to their problems on their current roster, Rodgers revealed which wide receiver has impressed him the most in training camp.

“I would say the receiver I’ve been most impressed with, especially the last week or 10 days of camp, is Marquez,” Rodgers said, via PackersNews.com. “I think he has had some really good practices in a row and started to lay down some good practice fundamentals that he can lean on. At the same time, I know Matt said this at one point, this is the new standard for MVS.”

Just a season ago, Green Bay fell just one game short of advancing to the Super Bowl. Besides Davante Adams, the Packers lacked a reliable No. 2 option at wide receiver. Therefore, it was assumed that the team would add a pass-catcher this offseason.

On the contrary, the only wide receiver they added — Devin Funchess — opted out this season due to concerns with COVID-19. Provided that, the Packers are confident that someone on their current roster will emerge behind Adams and Allen Lazard. Similar to last season, Rodgers believes Marquez Valdes-Scantling is starting to come into his own in training camp.

Despite the hype Valdes-Scantling received last year, he finished with only 26 receptions for 452 yards and two touchdowns. Even with Rodgers' ringing endorsement, Valdes-Scantling will need to prove himself in the regular season before anyone believes he can be a viable option for the All-Pro quarterback.
