The Green Bay Packers made headlines with their decision to trade up take quarterback Jordan Love with the 26th overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft. Hall of Famer Brett Favre believes it is now only a matter of time before quarterbacked Aaron Rodgers follows in his footsteps and departs Green Bay.

There is plenty of speculation regarding how Rodgers has taken to the Packers using valuable draft resources to bring in his successor. Favre said during an appearance on the Rich Eisen Show that his former teammate will be playing elsewhere at some point in the near future:

Favre doubled down on the notion that picking Love may be the deciding factor for Rodgers.

Favre is all too familiar with the feelings that can stir up that come up when teams make such a pick. After all, it happened to him when the Packers decided to take Rodgers with the 24th overall pick in the 2005 NFL Draft.

Although Green Bay was in no rush to replace Favre right away, the writing for his looming departure had been on the wall as soon as Rodgers arrived. It would be three whole seasons until the team felt comfortable enough to make the switch under center.

The Packers could be looking to take a similar approach with Love this time around. Of course, it remains to be seen just how open Rodgers is to serving as a bridge quarterback while the team continues to groom his successor.
