The Green Bay Packers are coming off a dominant win against the Dallas Cowboys in Week 5. More importantly, it appears safety Darnell Savage managed to dodge a bullet.

Savage was sidelined early with an ankle injury against Dallas. According to NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport, the injury is not deemed to be too serious:

Packers S Darnell Savage is believed to have just tweaked his ankle and the injury is not considered major, source said.

This is certainly an encouraging update for Green Bay. They made quite the investment in Savage when they took him with the 21st overall pick in the 2019 NFL Draft. He has quickly emerged as an integral piece of this much-improved defense and the prospect of him missing would have dealt a serious blow.

Fortunately, that does not appear to be the case for Savage. The rookie has registered 18 tackles and a forced fumble through the first five games of the season. Despite the positive update, it still remains to be seen whether or not he will be ready to go in Week 6 against the Detroit Lions.

If Savage is unable to play, safety Will Redmond is likely to get the start against the Lions. Redmond did a solid job of filling in during Week 4 when he recorded nine tackles, two of which were for loss. The extra day could allow Savage some more time to recover with this week's game being featured on Monday night.

Regardless, Green bay will be looking to solidify its top spot in the NFC North with a win versus Detroit.
