The Green Bay Packers saw their playoff hopes completely dashed on Sunday afternoon after falling 24-17 to the Chicago Bears.

This has now set up two final games of the regular season where the team isn't playing for the opportunity to continue their campaign into the postseason. Despite that being the case, backup DeShone Kizer has confirmed that there is no talk of him playing this week against the New York Jets in place of star quarterback Aaron Rodgers, according to Rob Demovsky of ESPN.

Asked DeShone Kizer if there's been any talk of him playing this week now that the Packers have no playoff chance: “Nope, nothing.”

Kizer has only taken the field twice this season as the bulk of that action came in the season opener after Rodgers suffered a leg injury early in the second quarter of the 24-23 win over the Chicago Bears. He had completed 4-of-7 passes for 55 yards and an interception that was returned for a touchdown.

Although there hasn't been any chatter about that being the case, the Packers may lean toward holding Rodgers out of action as he's still working through that same leg injury that he suffered back in the season opener. This is something that has clearly impacted his play on the field along the way, but he hasn't allowed it to keep him off the field at any point this season since then.

Rodgers has been able to remain an efficient passer with 23 touchdown passes to just two interceptions, but his production has been far lower than what has become expected from him in that regard. Ultimately, this is a situation is something that is out of his hands as the team may decide that is best for him to sit out the rest of the season in order for him to have a full bill of health to begin the 2018 season.
