The Green Bay Packers were able to trade up to get safety Darnell Savage Jr. in the 2019 NFL Draft and they could not be happier with what they have seen from him so far. He has been a huge part of the revamped defense that the team has put together for defensive coordinator Mike Pettine.

ESPN took to Twitter to share their rookie rankings through the first four weeks of the season. Savage came in as an impressive No. 5 on their list.

Savage has had an impressive early impact to start his career with the Packers. He has shown off the top level speed and playmaking ability to made teams covet him. Green Bay has needed speed and playmaking in their secondary and they are now deeper at safety than they have been in years.

Through his first four games, Savage has recorded 17 total tackles to go along with a forced fumble, an interception, and three defended passes.

Having a guy like Savage alongside Adrian Amos has made the Packers one of the top defenses in the league. He has a ton of potential to improve as well. Matt LaFleur and company are lucky to have them as one of the cornerstones of their defense.

Expect to see Savage continue putting up big production throughout the remainder of the season. Green Bay got a major steal late in the first round and he is showing a lot of teams that they made a mistake by passing on him.
