The Green Bay Packers didn't spend any draft capital on a wide receiver, but Reggie Begelton could make some fans forget that they didn't. Begelton was a standout for the Calgary Stampeders of the CFL, catching 102 passes for 1,444 yards and 10 touchdowns during the 2019 season. For his efforts, Begelton was named the Stampeders' most outstanding player.

The Packers signed him back in January, and since joining the squad, coach Matt LaFleur has been impressed. LaFleur, via Rob Demovsky at ESPN, said of Begelton:

“The one thing that really stands out is you can tell he is super invested … He’s done a great job at picking up everything that we’ve thrown at him. He does a great job. We’ve been quizzing these guys quite a bit, and he is repeatedly at the top. I’ve been just super impressed with his approach and just excited to see him and see what he’s got to offer on the field.”

Begelton is someone who has been overlooked by many, but people inside the Packers organization are taking notice of him. Quarterback Aaron Rodgers said last week he is excited about some of the young guys in the wide receiver room, but he knows they are all going to need to take big steps forward to help the team. Said Rodgers,

“I liked our progression throughout the season. Obviously we had a lot of success, won a lot of close games. I like where we’re at, and you know, as always, we’re going to be expecting those young players whether they’re rookies or second- or third-year guys to make that jump, and we’re going to be calling on them to play an even bigger role for us.”

If Begelton does have a big season he could be the team's key move of the offseason, even though it wasn't talked about much at the time of the signing.
