Former Green Bay Packers wide receiver Greg Jennings says accountability issues were one of the factors behind the Pack's mediocre showing last season.

Jennings, who is now a FOX Sports NFL analyst, said, “Egos destroyed the Green Bay Packers on the April 4 episode of “The Herd w/ Colin Cowherd.”

Jennings emphatically stated both former Green Bay head coach Mike McCarthy and quarterback Aaron Rodgers wanted the credit for themselves. Cowherd confirmed Jennings' sentiments when the former said, “He didn't want Aaron to have too much power.”

Jennings replied in the affirmative. He said neither McCarthy nor Rodgers valued the other's opinion. From Jennings' perspective, a massive power struggle brewed between coach and quarterback in Green Bay.

The Packers, one of the most successful franchises in NFL history, missed the postseason for the second consecutive year in 2018. They finished with a 6-9-1 record – their worst since the 2008 NFL season when they won just six games.

While last season had some positives (Davante Adams' rise to prominence as the No. 1 wide receiver and the emergence of nose tackle Kenny Clark and linebacker Blake Martinez), there were more negatives.

Adams was the only legitimate threat at the wideout spot. Geronimo Allison battled his way through injuries while rookies Equanimous St. Brown and Marquez Valdez-Scantling lacked consistency.

The Packers also had issues on defense. Green Bay finished 22nd in the NFL as it allowed 25.0 points per game in 2018. The team's edge rushers, in particular, failed to produce. None of them had more than 30 quarterback pressures.

Aaron Rodgers Mike McCarthy

Despite these issues, the power struggle between McCarthy and Rodgers was one of the storylines in the Pack's forgettable 2018 campaign. Green Bay ultimately dismissed McCarthy on December 2, 2018.

It's a sad ending to the McCarthy-Rodgers partnership which lasted 13 seasons. While that tandem helped the Packers win Super Bowl XLV, all good things must come to an end.
