Green Bay Packers running back Ty Montgomery has had a rough couple of days since his costly blunder versus the Los Angeles Rams in Week 8. It appears he will now get a fresh start with the Baltimore Ravens.

The Packers were one of the more notable teams looking to make a deal at the trade deadline. According to NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport, they pulled the trigger on a deal that will send Montgomery to Baltimore:

Albert Breer of the MMQB reports that the Ravens will send a 2020 seventh-round pick in exchange.

The move certainly makes sense for a number of reasons. For starters, Montgomery has received plenty of flak for fumbling on the kick return near the end of their loss to the Rams.  Reports indicated that anonymous teammates criticized him for being selfish by bringing the ball out rather than taking a knee and giving it to quarterback Aaron Rodgers. Montgomery has since made it clear that the comments did not sit well with him. The growing frustration may have played a part in his departure.

Of course, the fact that Green Bay already ran their backfield by committee made this trade a bit easier. Meanwhile, Baltimore was in desperate need of some more playmakers in their offense. Alex Collins currently heads the backfield, however, the Ravens have been sorely lacking a complementary option. Montgomery's skill set as a change-of-pace back should help him etch out a role immediately.
