Devin Funchess will not be returning to the Carolina Panthers next season, but he has an idea of another wide receiver whom he thinks would be a good fit on the team: Antonio Brown.

Funchess thinks the duo of Brown and Cam Newton would definitely be entertaining:

“It’d be like two bulldogs going back and forth,” said Funchess, according to Taylor Bisciotti of NFL Network. “It would be fun, all that drip.”

Funchess played the first four years of his career with the Panthers and is coming off a season in which he played in 14 games and hauled in 44 receptions for 549 yards and four touchdowns.

The 24-year-old, who played his collegiate football at the University of Michigan, was originally selected by Carolina in the second round (41st pick overall) of the 2015 NFL Draft.

He appeared in all 16 contests during his rookie campaign, catching 31 passes for 473 yards and five scores. Then, the following year, Funchess snared 23 balls for 371 yards while reaching the end zone four times.

His best season with the Panthers came in 2017, when he registered 63 catches for 840 yards and eight touchdowns.

As for Brown? He racked up 104 receptions for 1,297 yards and a league-leading 15 touchdowns this past season, leading to his sixth straight Pro Bowl appearance.

However, the Pittsburgh Steelers are looking to trade the wideout due to his off-the-field issues, most notably for going AWOL on the team in the week leading up to its season finale against the Cincinnati Bengals.

The 30-year-old was drafted by the Steelers back in 2010.
