Former Carolina Panthers linebacker Luke Kuechly decided to remain with the team after his recent retirement. The Panthers hired the 2013 NFL Defensive Player of the year as a pro scout back in June. The organization has made it clear they wanted to keep him around even after his playing career was over.

According to Joe Person of The Athletic, the Panthers have parted ways with pro scouts Don Warren and Clyde Powers.

The five-time All-Pro member also saw other post-career opportunities, including broadcasting and coaching, but felt this choice was the best fit for him at this time.

Although Kuechly may be new to this role, he is completely not a stranger to the game he professionally played for eight seasons. He will be bringing in his invaluable experience which will help the team lookout for young players with tremendous upside. His presence around the team can also positively benefit the Panthers' young defensive players.

The 7-time Pro Bowler totaled 690 solo tackles, 402 assists, and 12.5 sacks in 118 games played for the Panthers. His acquisition as a scout will help transition the team as they usher in a new era under head coach Matt Rhule. Kuechly's winning attitude and experience will help foster a new culture within the revamped Panthers side.

The Carolina-based team finished at the bottom of the NFC South with a 5-11 win-loss record. Next season will certainly be a challenge as the rest of the NFC South has added firepower over the offseason.

The Panthers will look to barge in the playoff picture once again after missing out on two straight seasons.
