The Carolina Panthers opted to part ways with head coach Ron Rivera going into Week 14 of the 2019 NFL season. Rivera has since offered up his reaction to being fired after nine seasons.

Rivera discussed his time Carolina and is confident that he will be part of another coaching staff in the near future, via Kevin Patra of NFL.com:

“I do believe I will get another opportunity, and I will coach again,” he said, laughing that he's taking the next four weeks off before getting back to work.

“There are a lot of things I would do differently, there really are, but I think I've got the right kind of experience,” he said. “I mean, I do. I just think that, having gone through the things that I've gone through, been through the things that we've been through, been where we've been, it gives me experience. Doesn't mean I'll be better than anybody else but what it does is it gives me a different perspective …I'll be honest I'm kind of excited, I really am. I'm really looking forward to a lot of opportunities, I'm looking forward to a little bit of time.”

It is encouraging to see that Rivera is not planning on letting his firing keep him from looking for another opportunity. Fortunately, he has good reason to be optimistic after putting together a solid resume in Carolina.

Rivera's most impressive stretch came when the Panthers won three straight NFC South titles from 2013 to 2015. Of course, they managed to cap it off by going to the Super Bowl, however, they ultimately came up short against the Denver Broncos.

Carolina now appears to be in the midst of some significant changes heading into the offseason. First, they will need to do what they can to end the 2019 NFL season on a high note over these remaining four games.
