Carolina Panthers linebacker Thomas Davis nearly crippled Green Bay Packers wide receiver Davante Adams with an illegal hit he made back in Week 15. Since then, Davis has been painted by fans and critics alike as some sort of a heartless monster.

According to ESPN’s David Newton, Davis isn’t happy about the way that he’s being viewed in a bad light following his highly questionable play in the Green Bay game.

“It's very unfair,” Davis said Thursday of the criticism. “I've seen a lot of stuff that's being said. Obviously, people are going to form their own opinions based on what they saw. At the end of the day, I know for 13 years I've played the game the right way. I can rest easy on it.”

Davis had already apologized on Twitter to Adams, but that did not stop people from voicing out scathing remarks about the 2014 Walter Payton Man of the Year winner.

Earlier this season, the Panthers linebacker got a hefty $48,620 fine due to another helmet-to-helmet hit on Tampa Bay Buccaneers wide receiver Adam Humphries in Week 8.

Davis was initially handed a two-game suspension for his helmet-to-helmet hit on Adams, but the league reduced it to one following an appeal. Davis served that suspension last Sunday against the Buccaneers and is scheduled to return in Week 17’s regular-season finale on the road when the Panthers face the Atlanta Falcons.
