There are a few situations in the NFL that are extremely frustrating for Fantasy Football managers every year. The New England Patriots backfield is one of those. Running back Sony Michel is one of the biggest causes of this.

Michel is technically the starting running back for the Pats, but he's been on the bench plenty to start the season. When he has been on the field, he has been pretty ineffective. Although he has earned the disappointment of fantasy managers everywhere, coach Bill Belichick spoke on his behalf, according to Pro Football Talk, via NBC Sports Boston.

“I think he’s had opportunities and he’s done pretty well with those. There’s been times where he hasn’t been able to get started and that’s always a problem with the running game. If you can’t get them through the line of scrimmage, you can gain some yards, but it’s hard. There are things he can do better. Certainly we can block better and coach better so we’ll try to do those and improve in every part of our offense, not just the running game but play-actions and passing game and everything else.” Belichick said.

While part of the blame definitely lies with an injury riddled offensive line, Michel has to take some responsibility. In Week 1 against the Pittsburgh Steelers, he notched 15 carries for 14 yards. Yes, you read that right. In a game where the Patriots led the whole game, Michel simply could not produce on the ground. The former Georgia Bulldog is averaging a meager 2.4 yards per carry, which is abysmal.

If he doesn't improve soon, expect him to be in coach Belichick's doghouse.
