The New England Patriots are entering their second season under Mac Jones. As a rookie, he led the team to a 10-7 season record and, albeit short, a playoff run. Now, with a year and change under his belt, Jones is responsible for a lot of changes in the upcoming season.

That's according to Bill Belichick, who gave the media some insight at the Patriots' second open practice. Providence Journal's Mark Daniels tweeted Belichick's quote Tuesday morning.

Belichick said the team is “doing a lot of things differently” based on the growth of the 23-year-old quarterback. Coming from the legendary Patriots head coach, this should be a huge confidence booster for Jones.

Belichick has every right to work his team to the strengths of the young quarterback. He's been working tirelessly in the offseason, and had a remarkable rookie year. He threw 352 completions for 3,801 yards and 22 touchdowns in the regular season. Jones added to this with another 24 completions for 232 yards and two touchdowns in the Patriots' postseason game.

Even veteran Malcolm Butler is sold on Jones' leadership abilities. He told the media at Patriots OTAs that Jones has the energy, the confidence, and the swagger. Daniels tweeted the cornerback's praise Tuesday afternoon.

The shoes of Tom Brady and the dynasty of the Patriots are arguably the biggest to fill in the NFL. However, Jones seems to know what he's doing, and Belichick is right there beside him.
