Former New England Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski may be in the first year of his retirement, however, it appears there is still a chance he could be catching passes from quarterback Tom Brady in the 2019 NFL season.

It is safe to say that retirement has suited Gronkowski well thus far. Regardless, Fox Sports insider Jay Glazer indicated he could serve as a late postseason addition for Brady, via TMZ Sports.

“Right now? No. Retired life is fantastic, you kidding me? He’s being Gronk,” Glazer said of a potential Gronkowski return. “Toward the end of the year, if they’re in it, could he possibly come out of retirement for a last, you know, little playoff push? Why not? Absolutely. Why wouldn’t he? But again, his body is beat up. It’s how he feels. I don't know how he feels.”

The prospect of Gronkowski coming back this early into his retirement may seem a bit far-fetched. Then again, it is hardly unusual for star players to take a one-year hiatus to get their health in order and potentially reconsider things. The circumstances may have to be just right in order for a return to be in the works.

While it may seem highly unlikely, it is safe to say that Brady or any of Gronkowski's former teammates would oppose the idea of him joining them for another playoff run. New England has never been shy about making late-season additions to improve their odds. It will be interesting to see if these rumors continue to swirl as the season goes on.
