It is not often that a team could actually have an inauspicious win like the New England Patriots did over the Buffalo Bills in Week 13. As many have seen ,the afternoon was headlined by a cheap shot from superstar tight end Rob Gronkowski on Bills cornerback Tre'Davious White.
However, the dirty hit by “Gronk” seemingly distracted fans from the other heated exchange that occurred on the Patriots sidelines between superstar quarterback Tom Brady and offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels during the game.
While it certainly seemed like quite the spat, Josh McDaniels says the two are not holding any hard feelings over it, according to Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk
“It’s a very competitive game and emotional game and things like that can happen,” McDaniels said. “Being in the game a long time, and understanding that Tommy’s a very emotional person and emotional player; it’s part of what makes him great. You understand that those things happen, and it’s never personal. You move on quickly from it, and we did and we have. I love Tom and all those things he stands for and all the things he does for our team. That’s just a situation where you understand it and move on quickly from it and you focus on your job.”
While it is unclear as to what exactly caused the confrontation, it is safe to assume it had to do with a missed assignment on offense. Fortunately, the mistake was not too crucial as the Patriots went on to win 23-3.
It is not the first time fans have seen Brady go at it with a coach. Some may recall a similar situation he had during the 2011 NFL season with then-offensive coordinator Bill O'Brien, who is now head coach of the Houston Texans. The heated exchanges are not only indicative of the passion the five-time Super Bowl champ brings to the game, but also competitiveness between both the players and coaches.
