The New England Patriots will officially be without the services of playmakers Mohamed Sanu and Phillip Dorsett for Sunday's game against the Dallas Cowboys due to injuries.

Sanu worked out before the game and reportedly looked good enough to have some believing that he would be able to suit up, but his high ankle sprain will ultimately sideline him. He sustained the injury last week against Philadelphia and will now miss his first contest of the season.

Dorsett had been in the league's concussion protocol for most of the week and was unable to clear the final hurdle that would have seen him take the field.

Without two of his premier pass-catching weapons, quarterback Tom Brady — who has been listed as questionable in his own right with an elbow ailment — will likely have to rely on veteran Julian Edelman, while less-heralded names such as N'Keal Harry and Ben Watson are likely to see an increased workload in the offense.

Since joining New England, Sanu's performance has fluctuated. He has had two two-catch performances sandwiched between a monstrous 10-grab performance versus Baltimore back in Week 9. The Patriots moved a second-round pick in the 2020 NFL Draft to Atlanta in October to acquire Mohamed Sanu.

Dorsett has seen his role in the Patriots' offense expand this season, having hauled in a career-high five touchdown receptions. Through nine games, he tied his target total from last year (42). Both men are next eligible to return for New England's Week 13 matchup versus the Texans next Sunday.
