New England Patriots wide receiver Mohamed Sanu will try to practice on Friday in spite of an ankle issue, according to Mike Reiss of ESPN. Sanu did not practice on Wednesday or Thursday.

Sanu suffered the injury during the Patriots' win over the Philadelphia Eagles last Sunday and was initially expected to miss a couple of weeks, but if he is able to practice on Friday, that could certainly change things.

New England acquired the veteran in a trade with the Atlanta Falcons just ahead of the Week 8 deadline. In three games with the Pats, he has logged 14 catches for 108 yards and a touchdown.

On the season overall, Sanu has totaled 47 grabs for 421 yards and a couple of scores.

The 30-year-old, who played his collegiate football at Rutgers, was originally selected by the Cincinnati Bengals in the third round (83rd pick overall) of the 2012 NFL Draft.

He spent the first four seasons of his career with the Bengals, with his best year coming in 2014 when he caught 56 passes for 790 yards while reaching the end zone five times.

However, Sanu did not truly become a consistently reliable threat until he linked up with the Falcons in 2016. His most productive season in Atlanta came in 2018, when he hauled in 66 receptions for 838 yards and four touchdowns.

The Patriots' offense has been laboring for a good portion of the season, so, obviously, if Sanu ends up being sidelined for New England's Week 12 matchup with the Dallas Cowboys this weekend, it will make things that much more difficult for Tom Brady and Co.

The Pats are 9-1 on the year.
