Demaryius Thomas isn't the receiver he once was, but that doesn't mean he doesn't have anything left in the tank. Thomas' season was ended by a torn Achilles last year, but he was still reasonably productive up until that point. He finished with 501 yards in 11 games, which is solid if not spectacular.

The folks over at Pro Football Focus recently shared a stat that shows he's still very efficient in one area.

Thomas has always been great in the midrange, and that continued last season. Thomas brought in 69.2% of his intermediate targets for catches, a figure that ranked him eighth in the league, per PFF.

That's interesting, and would suggest Thomas does have something left in the tank after all. But at 31 now and coming off a devastating injury, he might not be the same. Thomas made the Pro Bowl five straight years from 2012-16, but he was declining physically even before the Achilles tear.

Recently, there have been rumors that Thomas isn't a lock to make the New England Patriots' roster. Thomas signed with the Pats this offseason on a one-year deal, that only included $150K guaranteed. The Patriots could cut him without losing very much money, and that seems like a real possibility at this point.

It's also been reported that Thomas could start the year on the PUP list, which would cost him the first six games of the season. The injury isn't the only hurdle to clear, as Thomas also has an ongoing legal situation. He's been charged with vehicular assault stemming from a car accident in February, and he could be looking at a suspension.
