It appears that New England Patriots owner Robert Kraft and head coach Bill Belichick haven't always seen eye to eye. It's no secret that Belichick has quite an interesting personality, but Kraft decided to take a chance and hire him way back in 2000. 21 years later, he's still guiding the Patriots, but there have been some clashing of heads along the way.

A recent book on the franchise revealed that Kraft once called Belichick some pretty harsh words back in September of 2018. Likely he was partly joking, but there was obviously some seriousness in it as well. Via ESPN:

“As for Kraft, in late September, he was in Aspen (Colorado) for a conference and bumped into a few friends in the hotel lobby early one morning. He told them he was leaving later for Detroit, where the Patriots were playing their next game. ‘I hate leaving here,' Kraft said. ‘You leave here and you leave some of the most brilliant people you've ever met. You pick up so much knowledge from all these brilliant minds. And I have to go to Detroit to be with the biggest f—–ng a–hole in my life — my head coach.' ”

“Bill was an idiot savant,” Kraft told a confidant, according to the book, alluding to Belichick's reputation before he hired the former Cleveland Browns coach in 2000. “I gave him this opportunity with the Patriots.”

Okay, we know that Belichick isn't exactly the easiest guy to get along with, while Kraft seems like a very friendly old man. But still, this is wild. Tom Brady was also with the Patriots at the time. Now, they're in a much different spot, with Mac Jones leading the way instead.

Belichick is still around, so clearly, there isn't much bad blood between the head coach and Kraft anymore, if there ever was in the first place.
