The New England Patriots lost future Hall of Fame tight end Rob Gronkowski this offseason. The longtime franchise cornerstone officially hung up his cleats. As a result, the Patriots managed to acquire another veteran tight end in Benjamin Watson, who is seeking to become a reliable target for quarterback Tom Brady.

With things going smoothly early in training camp, it appears the tandem of Brady and Watson is getting along just fine in New England these days.

“Brady and Watson have an evident chemistry,” writes Jeff Howe of The Athletic. “It was never clearer than their three-connection period to close Sunday’s practice. Earlier that day, Brady hit Watson for a touchdown in positional drills, and Brady gave him a point and a fist pump for the route after the play. Also a cool moment in camp after the Sunday practice when Brady played catch with Watson’s kids.”

However, it is also worth noting that Watson will miss the team's first four regular season games to begin the 2019 campaign. Watson was suspended by the league after failing a drug test. As a result, Benjamin Watson will now be forced to use this offseason to become comfortable with both Tom Brady and the Patriots' offense before being reinserted into the team's regular lineup in (presumably) Week 5 of the regular season.

The Patriots are once again coming off a Super Bowl-winning campaign. New England has now won a title to conclude two of the last three and three of the last five seasons.
