Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Tom Brady is set to usher in a new chapter in his illustrious career in the 2020 NFL season. Regardless, it seems he is not passing up on the opportunity to praise on of his former teammates.

New England Patriots fullback James Develin has officially announced his retirement. Brady recently took to Instagram to show some love to his former teammate:

Develin spent his college career playing on the defensive line at Brown. He went undrafted in 2010 and enjoyed brief stints in the AFL and UFL. It was there that he made the successful transition to fullback and he finally got an opportunity after signing with the Cincinnati Bengals practice squad.

Develin would never make it on the active roster while in Cincinnati and was waived prior to the 2012 campaign. Fortunately, it would open the door for an ideal opportunity in New England as part of head coach Bill Belichick's offense. After playing in one game as a rookie, he finally etched out an integral role for himself as the starting fullback in the 2013 NFL season.

Develin's versatility as a run-blocker and viable pass-catcher would make him an ideal fit for the Patriots. He would go on to win three Super Bowls with the Patriots alongside Brady while his efforts in the backfield and on special teams even helped him earn Pro Bowl honors in 2017.

Unfortunately, Develin was limited to just two games in the 2019 NFL season after being placed on injured reserve with a neck injury. It seems this may have played a major part in his retirement.
