New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady's 2019 was a roller coaster. There were times he looked like a quarterback who still has a couple of good years left in the league, and other times he looked like he should have retired a few years ago.

When Brady struggled, some of the blame couldn't all be put on him. The front office didn't do the team a whole lot of favors with the way they approached their offseason.

So how did Brady do overall? Let's breakdown the pros and cons of Brady's 2019 season.

Pros

Overall with the talent around Brady, the season probably could have been worse. The team lost Rob Gronkowski this offseason, and they didn't bring in anyone to be a big-time red zone threat.

Brady did finish the season throwing for 4,057 yards, 24 touchdowns, and eight interceptions. He has always done an excellent job of taking care of the football, and it was no different this year.

The future Hall of Famer also led the Patriots to regular-season success. They finished with a 12-4 record and had the third seed in the AFC.

Cons

The biggest con for Brady this season was his consistency. Brady had four games where he threw over 300 yards, but there were also a lot of games where he struggles to move the ball. In Week 14 against the Chiefs, he completed only 19 of his 36 passes for 169 yards and a touchdown.

During the middle of the season, Brady also seemed to stop pushing the ball down the field. During Week 14 and 15, he averaged less than five yards an attempt in consecutive weeks for the first time since 2006.

Total quarterback rating is a good way to analyze the play of the quarterback, and Brady's show this season was a struggle. Tom Brady's QBR, according to ESPN, was 53.8 for the regular season, which put him just ahead of Baker Mayfield and Daniel Jones. The lead league was Lamar Jackson, who had a QBR of 81.9.

During the Patriots' one playoff game, his QBR was 40.6. The talent can be talked about for Brady's struggles, but he had chances during that playoff game to make plays to win it, and it didn't happen.

This could have been a different story if Brady had more talent around him, but a lot of the failures this season are on the shoulders of him. It's pretty clear that he isn't the same quarterback he once was, and the Patriots have a tough decision on their hands with what they want to do with him.
