After his hot start to the season, with averages of 28.0 points, 3.5 rebounds, 2.5 assists, and 4.0 steals per game, San Antonio Spurs‘ superstar forward Kawhi Leonard has been very impressive and made a lot more fans recently. One of them is his new teammate, Pau Gasol.

Gasol brought his talents to the Alamo this summer as a free agent as he feels the Spurs will give him the best chance of winning another title before he decides to hang-up his sneakers for good. Yet, even if he's still new to the team, he has already observed Leonard well enough and have nothing but high praise for him.

The 36-year-old Spaniard also discussed what makes him different from other incredible players he has played with before. Per Sam Amick of USA TODAY Sports:

“He’s (Kawhi Leonard) a special player, without a question. I’ve been around, and I’ve played against incredible players, but this guy is just unique. He’s definitely very confident and determined. He may not talk too much, and might keep it quiet most of the time, but his demeanor and his swagger is pretty high even though he doesn’t show much. He doesn’t express it. The way he plays, it’s pretty obvious.”

His statement says a lot about the San Diego State product's game as Gasol also played with an elite player during his days with the Los Angeles Lakers in Kobe Bryant.

Should Leonard continue his stellar start to the campaign, it will not be surprising at all if he'll be in the discussion for the MVP award as well as Defensive Player of the Year once again even if he has already won it the past two years.

But beyond the personal accolades, his high level of play will help the Spurs in their quest to take home the championship this season. And on the way to doing that, he'll definitely win the respect of more fans and even his fellow players, just like Pau Gasol.
