In the last several months, All-Star forward Paul George has been heavily linked to the Los Angeles Lakers as his next destination once he eventually hits the free agent market.

He could have his first opportunity to do so next summer if he were to elect to opt out of the final year of his five-year, $91.5 million deal that is worth $20.7 million for the 2018-19 season. With that in mind, the 27-year-old recently told Kristian Winfield of SB Nation that he's still leaving the door open for next July.

“We’ll see,” he continued, addressing the idea of joining the Lakers next season. “I’m a Thunder, and my job is to give them the best I have this year and see what happens after that.”

George has been dancing around the topic over the last several weeks to even a greater degree since being traded from the Indiana Pacers to the Oklahoma City Thunder. Although this isn't  clear indication that he will join the Lakers next summer, but rather that he's still uncertain about what he will do.

Things could certainly shape up for Los Angeles to become the top choice for George, but at the same time, he could achieve a high amount of success in Oklahoma City alongside reigning league MVP Russell Westbrook that would convince him to stay.

There is just too much time from now until next offseason that could see things change drastically in regards to George's long-term future.
