When the New Orleans Pelicans landed the No. 1 overall pick in the NBA Draft last week, fans and media pundits immediately assumed that Zion Williamson was devastated and that he did not want to play in New Orleans.

However, we don't really have any real evidence of that, and Pelicans general manager David Griffin isn't buying it, stating that he's “sure that's a false narrative” and saying that he got to meet with Williamson and his family after the draft lottery, according to Will Guillory of The Athletic.

The No. 1 pick next month likely won't be anything more than a formality, as there isn't a person on this planet who seriously believes the Pelicans aren't going to do anything other than take Williamson.

Of course, New Orleans is also likely to trade superstar Anthony Davis this summer, as the Pels landing the top overall selection has not seemed to cause Davis to have second thoughts about wanting out.

Davis requested a trade in the middle of the season, and while the Pelicans held on to him through the trade deadline, the general consensus is that Davis, who is not up for free agency until next summer, will be playing his basketball elsewhere next season.

Taking into consideration that Davis only made two playoff appearances in seven seasons in New Orleans, you can see why a lot of people would automatically reach the conclusion that Williamson does not want to play in the Big Easy, but we should probably wait until we actually hear concrete evidence about that being true before we deem it as fact, no?
