The main storyline that dominated the NBA news cycle for most of last season was Anthony Davis wanting to be traded from the New Orleans Pelicans.

The Los Angeles Lakers eventually acquired Davis after being willing to part with a significant amount of compensation. Before Davis' first matchup with his former team, Josh Hart called the deal a ‘win-win' for both sides.

“It’s a business,” Hart said, via Christian Clark of NOLA.com. “I’m all for that. I’m in a great situation. AD is in a great situation. I think it was a win-win in that trade.”

The 2018-19 Lakers team was an awkward fit, with LeBron James seeking immediate title contention and the team's young players being ready for that level of basketball. Acquiring Davis made plenty of sense and has been a key reason for their NBA best 15-2 record to start the current season.

The Pelicans were clearly not going to be able to construct a title-contending squad around Davis. Dealing him away enabled them to have assets to build around Zion Williamson, who many think will be an elite talent one day.

Hart believes that the players that were traded to the Pelicans are now in a “growing situation” and that they are where they are “supposed to be.”

“Looking back on it, it was a growing situation,” Hart said. “I think everyone is kind of where they’re supposed to be.”

The Pelicans and Lakers square off with one another on Wednesday night at the Smoothie King Center.
