Currently sitting at a 19-32 record, it would probably be safe to say that this isn't going to be the year that the New Orleans Pelicans make some noise out West. Be that as it may, the Pels appear to still be active in the market as the trade deadline approaches.

According to reports, the Pelicans are being “aggressive” in their attempt to bolster their squad for the remainder of the season. The biggest name that stands out is that of 2017 fifth overall pick De'Aaron Fox of the Sacramento Kings (h/t NBA Central on Twitter):

CJ McCollum of the Portland Trail Blazers is also a key piece that could take New Orleans' offense to the next level, while the addition of highly sought-after veteran Eric Gordon will also add some much-needed experience to this young Pelicans squad.

It is unclear what New Orleans is willing to part ways with in order to land their man but with their pursuit being labeled as “aggressive,” it does sound like the Pelicans are prepared to make the necessary sacrifices.

Zion Williamson still remains sidelined for New Orleans and when the highly-touted star will return to action is anybody's guess right now. The Pelicans are clearly looking beyond this season as they hope to establish themselves as a legitimate threat in the Western Conference in the coming years. The addition of a guy like De'Aaron Fox, in particular, could be the key piece New Orleans has been searching for all these years.
