All eyes will be on Southern Hills Country Club when the 2022 PGA Championship, which will feature 15-time major champion Tiger Woods, tees off on May 19. Woods, who made his return to the tour at the Masters in April, was officially listed as a participant at the event when Southern Hills released the field for the major this past week.

Speaking to reporters on Sunday, Woods talked about his health and revealed a harsh reality that he's facing after leg surgery in February 2021, as reported by ESPN:

“It's only going to keep getting stronger,” Woods told reporters Sunday. “The more I use it, the more strength it gains. Am I ever going to have full mobility? No. Never again. But I'll be able to get stronger. It's going to ache, but that's the way it's going to be.”

While it's certainly a positive that Woods said his leg is feeling stronger than it did while walking the demanding course at Augusta National in April, it's still a gut punch for golf fans to hear that he'll “never again” have full mobility in his leg, which was surgically repaired following his car accident.

Woods played a practice round at the PGA Championship on Monday, the second nine-hole tune-up he has completed ahead of the action at the Southern Hills course, which was renovated back in 2018.

While Woods may not be the same as he was physically after his surgery, one can bet that the fire burns deep within him to win his first PGA Championship since 2007.
