Miles Russell, the 15-year-old no. 1 ranked junior, is set to make his PGA Tour debut this week at the Rocket Mortgage Classic.

“This has always been the goal, to play at the highest level,” he said Wednesday at Detroit Golf Club. “Kind of just happened a little faster than I was thinking it might. But it's just what happens when you have some good play.”

Russell has been on a meteoric rise. Earlier this year, one day after turning 15, Russell broke Tiger Woods's mark as the youngest person to be named the American Junior Golf Association's Player of the Year Award. In April, the Jacksonville Beach, FL native became the youngest golfer to make a Korn Ferry Tour cut. He ended up finishing T20 at the LECOM Suncoast Classic in Sarasota — leading to a sponsor exemption from the Rocket Mortgage.

“They've been just a complete blast,” Russell said at his pre-tournament press conference at Detroit Golf Club on Wednesday when asked to describe his last few months.

“I don't know how to describe it other than just kind of a rollercoaster and it's just been a rollercoaster of just fun.”

In 2023, Russell became the youngest winner of the Junior PGA Championship and the Junior Players Championship. However, the phenom said his proximity to the PGA Tour became evident in Sarasota.

“I think when I played well there at the Korn Ferry in Sarasota, definitely a kind of a confidence booster. Then to get this opportunity to play in something like this was really just a dream come true.”

Russell, who already has NIL deals with Nike and TaylorMade, said he's relied on his team to quell the loudening noise around him.

“It's been busy. I'm lucky to have a good team around me to keep it pretty quiet in my little circle. It's just been busy.”

Entering his first official PGA Tour event, Russell will be focused on mitigating the drama — in his mind and on the course — while soaking in the experience.

“I've seen it all,” he said Wednesday about Detroit GC. “I like it. It's tight, got to play well. It's tough in some spots, but pretty simple, too. A lot of good wedges and just be very disciplined.”

Russell will be grouped with Pierceson Coody and Rico Hoey for Rounds 1 and 2. They'll tee off on the 10th hole at 2:11 p.m. ET on Thursday and on the 1st hole at 8:46 a.m. ET on Friday.

“I have my own goals, but my goal is just to come out here and have fun. That's my main goal, have fun, maybe learn something, take something to my next event.”
