Multiple teams are already looking ahead to this year’s MLB trade deadline, including the New York Yankees.

According to the New York Post’s Jon Heyman, the Yankees are “starting to look at the trade market” for an outfielder. The MLB insider listed several names who have been linked with the Yankees as of late, such as Washington Nationals outfielder Juan Soto, although he added that the one-time All-Star is “extremely unlikely” to be available.

More so, Heyman also noted that Pittsburgh Pirates outfielder Bryan Reynolds is “only slightly more likely to hit the market.”

Reynolds’ future with the Pirates was up in the air ahead of the 2022 season. The Athletic's Ken Rosenthal noted that teams such as the San Diego Padres and Miami Marlins showed trade intrigue in the versatile outfielder.

Pirates general manager Ben Cherington did confirm in April that Reynolds was garnering interest for a trade, as he added that the team was receiving “incoming calls” for the center fielder.

Reynolds is under team control for the next three years, which came after he signed off on a two-year contract deal with the Pirates in April to avoid arbitration.

After a slow start to the 2022 campaign, Reynolds has managed to turn the tide on his season as of late. For one, he posted a .333 batting average to go along with eight home runs and 19 RBI recorded over 28 total games played in June. He now sits at a .255 batting average and a .331 OBP on the year.

With the sluggish seasons from the likes of Aaron Hicks and Joey Gallo, Reynolds could be a formidable fit in the Yankees lineup as the stretch run of the season nears.
