The Detroit Pistons managed to pick up a perennial All-Star in Blake Griffin after trading for him on Monday. The trade has a chance of getting the team to the playoffs if all goes well.

So far, the Pistons are 2-0 since getting Griffin, but that doesn't mean everything has been all sunsets and rainbows in Detroit. The team is still adjusting to playing with the former L.A. Clippers star.

Pistons head coach Stan Van Gundy said he needs to do more to get both Griffin and the rest of the team on the same page, per Rod Beard of the Detroit News.

“I have to get figured out offensively. I’m not helping (Griffin) or us a lot. You can see today in the early fourth quarter, we were actually a lot smoother when he was out because we were just playing,” Van Gundy said. “I’ve got this great player now and we’re just sort of playing to him all the time and the defense is all loaded up. Blake felt the same way talking after the game. We just need to play, get the ball moving and he’ll find his way.”

On the surface, it looks like a cause for concern, but the Pistons are just going through what every team that adds a star player goes through. Coming into a new system with a new coach and new players is difficult, but Griffin is a smart basketball player and will figure out.

Van Gundy is a good coach, and while there are struggles right now, the team will get to where it wants to be.
