Nearing the halfway point of the season, the Detroit Pistons have remained well in the mix in the playoff picture currently holding one of the final positions.

However, this hasn't stopped the front office from looking to shake things up a bit ahead of the trade deadline as Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN is reporting that the Pistons have reportedly pursued a deal to land Orlando Magic veteran forward Evan Fournier.

Detroit pursued a deal for Fournier, but that would've been hard to execute without Reggie Jackson's contract included — even if Detroit decided to include promising rookie Luke Kennard. Jackson will be sidelined for another month-plus with a severely sprained ankle.

Detroit has remained one of the most aggressive teams on the early market, reflective of the Stan Van Gundy regime's desire to win now.

It is no secret that Detroit has been looking to move point guard Reggie Jackson over the last couple of seasons, but has been unsuccessful in finding a feasible deal to do so. What has made matters worse at this juncture is that Jackson is dealing with a severely sprained ankle that will keep him out of the mix for the next few weeks making him an unattractive trade piece.

With the Magic floundering, it could make Fournier available on the trade market over the next month ahead of the deadline. The 25-year-old is currently putting up arguably his best individual season averaging a career-high 17.9 points on 46.2 percent shooting from the field and 40.5 percent from beyond the arc. This includes scoring in double figures 30 times while notching 20 or more points on 14 occasions.

Fournier is also currently in the second year of his five-year, $85 million deal that has a $17 million player option for the 2020-21 campaign. The Pistons could once again revisit these trade discussions for the sixth-year forward at some point over the next few weeks in order to heighten their playoff push in the second of the season.
