RJ Barrett in the third year of his career with the New York Knicks is showing the league why he's a future All-Star. The former number three overall pick is starting to really exceed expectations. He's averaging 18.6 points per game, 5.7 rebounds and he's doing this while shooting 51.1% from the field, and 42.9% from behind the three-point line.

Knicks fans are starting to love him and what he's doing at such a young age in New York City is impressive.

He's having a breakout year right in front of our eyes. In his rookie year, many Knicks fans were really upset with how Barrett was playing. Rightfully so, he finished 488th out of 520 players in plus-minus and he was also one of the least efficient scorers in the NBA. It wasn't even like he was scoring a lot, he was only scoring 14.3 points per game.

Compare that to what Barrett is doing now and it's clear that he's having a breakout season. He showed promise last year while averaging 17.6 points per game and also shooting a high percentage from the field. The play he is giving this year however is making it seem like he is a future All-Star. It's RJ Barretts' breakout season.

Barrett is going to be the second-leading scorer for the Knicks, a top-five seed in the Eastern Conference, only behind All-Star Julius Randle. If he can get that points per game to 20 points per night, which he could do, he has a real chance to be an All-Star this season. He was able to put up a career-high scoring outburst in a 35 point game. Barrett struggled early on when the ball wasn't always in his hands but he has figured out how to play off the ball. All of his numbers are at the highest of his career

He's also knocking down his free throws. Barrett has struggled in the past at the line but it looks like this season is going to be different. He's also being aggressive while going to the basket and it's seeming to work out for him so far.

Last year was a huge confidence booster for Barrett as he helped the Knicks make the playoffs for the first time, in what seemed like forever.

He's going to be a key piece for this Knicks team for as long as he stays in New York. Knicks fans are excited to have Barrett as he's shaping out to be an elite two-way-level player. He doesn't back down from New York. Any kid coming into play for the Knicks at that young of an age and doing what he's doing is impressive. Barrett is having a breakout year and it's happening right in front of our eyes.

The Knicks are going to continue to play good basketball and RJ Barrett is going to be one of the main reasons why.
