Tennis superstar Rafael Nadal is the latest star athlete to get hit by COVID-19. In a post on his official Twitter account, the 20-time Grand Slam champion revealed that he tested positive for the virus upon landing in Spain.

Hola a todos. Quería anunciaros que en mi regreso a casa tras disputar el torneo de Abu Dhabi, he dado positivo por COVID en la prueba PCR que se me ha realizado al llegar a España. (Hi all. I wanted to announce that on my return home after playing the Abu Dhabi tournament, I have tested positive for COVID in the PCR test that was performed on me when I arrived in Spain.)

Before the positive test, Nadal participated in an exhibition even — Mubadala World Tennis Championship — in Abu Dhabi. That was the first time he played competitively since August, as he had just come back from a foot injury that also caused him to miss the Tokyo Olympics 2020, Wimbledon, and US Open.

Rafael Nadal also adds that he is experiencing “unpleasant moments” and that he hopes he will be able to shake those off soon.

It's uncertain at the moment whether Nadal will be ready to hit the court at the Australian Open in January.

Rafael Nadal, 35, is tied with Roger Federer and Novak Djokovic for the most Grand Slam titles in history.
