World No. 3 Alexander Zverev absolutely lost Wednesday in the Mexican Open, violently attacking the umpire's chair with his racket while spouting an expletive-laden rant directed at the umpire. The shocking behavior led to the German's dismissal from the tournament. While Zverev has since apologized for his actions, fellow tennis star Rafael Nadal fully believes that Zverev deserves the punishment.

Via The Daily Star:

“I enjoy good relations with Alexander, but at the end of the day the punishment is deserved,” said Nadal at a press conference after beating American Stefan Kozlov in the second round of the Acapulco Open.

“One cannot behave in this manner and I believe he is conscious of that.”

Rafael Nadal also didn't like in particular the impact of Zverev's actions on the young fans of the sport.

“Unfortunately, the image that Alexander gave yesterday, exacerbated by being posted on social media accounts which lights the touchpaper, will have been seen by millions of children,” said Nadal.

One of the classiest athletes of this generation, Rafael Nadal surely is someone who can credibly speak about such matters.

Amid the controversy in Acapulco, the Spaniard will look to make it all the way to the finals of the tournament after winning in the first two rounds. He faces Tommy Paul next in the quarterfinals Thursday.
