The Las Vegas Raiders continue to struggle with signing talented free agents as they miss out on another top talent in Eli Apple. This is a surprising development after the corner has gone on social media to express his excitement of continuing his NFL journey with the Silver and Black.

According to ESPN, Apple has verbally agreed to a one-year contract with the Raiders. However, talks fell through as the deal was being finalized. This leaves the 24-year-old who last played for the New Orleans Saints still without a team to play in 2020.

However, there's little to no doubt that he'll get a contract from another NFL team even if playing for the Raiders didn't work out for him. He's a talented young corner who can provide energy and production to a team that badly needs additional depth to their pass defense.

His stats for 2019 was nothing to write home about, but they were more than convincing for a team in need of quality corners to go and sign him. He finished the year with 58 tackles, one forced fumble, and four pass deflections through fifteen starts for the Saints. Teams who pick him up can expect similar levels of production from him.

Moreover, he's a great addition to any locker room. He's beloved by his teammates in New Orleans for his attitude during training and games. While he was inconsistent on the field, his attitude off it made his one-year stint with the Saints productive.

It's not yet known where Apple will end up before training camp. However, you can be sure that a team will pick up his contract sooner rather than later.
