Former Ohio State cornerback Eli Apple is once again on the move. This time around, the former New York Giants and New Orleans Saints defensive back has landed in “Sin City” as a member of the newly minted Las Vegas Raiders.

As a result of signing a free-agent contract with the Raiders this week, Apple promptly took to social media to open up about inking a deal with Las Vegas.

“For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future,” Apple writes. “‭‭Jeremiah‬ ‭29:11‬ Excited to start a new journey as a Raider ⚪️⚫️ #raidernation 🏁”

Prior to ultimately making his way to the Raiders alongside general manager Mike Mayock and head coach Jon Gruden, the 24-year-old Apple suited up for both the Giants and Saints as things did not go too well for him initially in East Rutherford. Originally selected by the Giants with the No. 10 overall pick in the first round of the 2016 NFL Draft out of Ohio State, Apple lasted just 2.5 seasons in East Rutherford before then being traded to the Saints.

Apple then went on to suit up for the Saints for 1.5 seasons, including one full season in New Orleans in 2019-20. Over the course of 15 regular season games for the playoff-bound Saints this past season, the veteran cornerback tallied 58 total tackles, one forced fumble and four pass defenses. His 58 total tackles currently serve as a single-season career-high mark as well.
