The Oakland Raiders wasted little time in finding their next head coach with the hiring of Jon Gruden, according to Steve Corkran.

Gruden had coached the Raiders for four seasons where he held a 38-26 record that includes a pair of playoff appearances, two AFC West division titles, and a trip to the AFC Championship game. In the 2000 season, the Raiders captured their first division title in a decade while winning at least eight games in each campaign under him.
This has come shortly after Oakland had made the decision to part ways with Jack Del Rio immediately after the 30-10 season finale loss to the Los Angeles Chargers. During Del Rio's three-year tenure with the Raiders, he held a 25-23 overall record while helping lead the team to their first playoff berth since 2002 with a 12-4 record last season.Oakland took a significant step back in 2017 under falling to a 6-10 record while finishing three in the AFC West
Gruden last coached in the NFL back in 2008 with the Tampa Buccaneers where he was at the helm for seven seasons that entailed three NFC South division titles, three playoffs appearances while leading the team to a win over the Raiders in Super Bowl XXXVII.
